The Community Service Practicum for First Years

Hello MAF first years,

Here is the rundown on the CSP (Or community Service Practicum). This is different than your clinical practicum (there are two practicums total: The clincal and the Community Service) in order to complete your community service practicum you need:

Satisfactory completion of 200 minimum clock hours of community service practicum.

Here's how it works:

At the end of fall semester, you will be given access to a database of many different sites that have arranged with Adler to have students come and serve in their facility

You (Students) will fill out short applications for each site you are interesetd in (questions provided by the school), and rate your interest in each site (ranking them in order of 'most interested' to 'least interested')

Of your five choices, you will be "placed" in one, though it may not be your first choice.

One way to increase your chances of getting the practicum you would like is to demonstrate on your application that you have work experience in their particular field.

You will be notified of your "site match" before spring semester.

Then you talk individually with your sites to set up your working hours, ect.

As you are doing your CSP, your "Site Supervisor" signs an hour log which you fill out.

By the end of the time period, you need 200 hours total clocked service hours at your site.

There will be information meetings to give you further details on each of these steps.

Some Basics for First Years

Some of this may seem obvious, but a reminder never hurts :)
